I was looking at the instructions on my La Bassine Birth pool and it says that it is for single use. It should not be used for more than one birth as it weakens the walls and seems. Now I am wondering if I should have got the professional grade version if I want to use it for more than one baby. I already opened it to get the instructions out, so now I don't know what to do. It didn't say "single use" anywhere before I opened it up. Has anyone ever used theirs more than once?

I don't have the La Bassine, but have the somewhat similar Birth Pool in a Box. I used it first, and have loaned it to 4 friends since then - so five total births so far (and I'm due in November!). It has had one small leak in it that was a minor problem for the 4th birth, but was patched and did just fine for #5.
Of course, I've insisted that everyone buy their own liners and use them, but that's been no problem. If I'd known it would be used THIS many times, I might've gone for a sturdier version, but I don't think they even offered it when I got mine 3 years ago.
I expect yours will be fine, too!

My midwives had a La Bassine (regular grade) that they rented out to clients. We used a disposable liner for it for hygenic purposes and it worked fine. It had been used 10+ times. Granted, it did have an airleak in the floor, but it didn't really bother me much. Filling it with water does not weaken the sides or anything, its just that the more times that its used the more likely it is to get damaged. The professional grade just is made of thicker material and is more durable.

Yikes, Altair, that's no good!
I've only had one birth with my La Bassine, but I'm planning to use it again, and I filled it up for a couple of test runs before the birth, and let my older son play in there with and without water.
No liner, no problems so far. But next time I fill it up I might do the first trial run on the ground floor because of what Altair said...
