UCing and high blood pressure

Just wondering if there are any UCers out there that had chronic hypertension. I was diagnosed with hypertension a few months before i became pregnant with this little one. I have been on medication my entire pregnancy and have not had a high reading the entire time. It has been excellent.

Anyway, I've been reading that high blood pressure is a risk out for homebirthers, but I haven't really found the reason why. Especially for those that are well controlled.

So, anyone have any experience or insight into this?

Risky because high blood pressure can cause the placenta to tear away prematurely, esp if labor causes your bp to rise. Look up previa. I don't have a lot of experience with chronic issues, but I did have eclampsia with my first and that was the fear, along with organ damage.

Who have you talked to about homebirth again?

my bp did go up to 150/70 toward the end where normally id be 110/65. my friemd had preE nf had follow a strict high protein diet per her midwife

I have been diagnosed with chronic hypertention. Had HBP for the last two babies. My numbers went as high as 188/121.

Not great numbers. But, I still UCed my last one. I was just very careful to get LOTS of prenatal care prior to delivery. I kept seeing the OB and the specialists right up to the time I went into labor, then I just never went back.

The thing they kept looking for was a lack of growth and placental seperation. So, I had a LOT of U/S's in the end (once a week for about 10 weeks). But, I felt they were important to my babies health.

I also kept on the meds right up through and past delilvery. Still on them now, actually. But, right at the end they could no longer hold my BP steady. It continued to rise the last few weeks, even on the strongest meds. I could have had them induce me early, but I made it clear that I was not willing to do so unless absolutely necessary. Thus all the u/s's and checks. While in labor my BP was quite high, but no higher than it had been for much of the previous week, so I just ignored it and went on.

I "risk out" of HB because of being AMA as well as having over five children, the CHBP is just one more thing to add to the list. That is why I UC.
