I have been TTC for a year. For the past three cycles, I have been spotting for 3-5 days during my LP before AF finally shows up. Does anyone know if this is an indicator of a greater problem (such as a progesterone issue) and if so, what can I do about it? TIA!

spotting during your LP certainly could be a sign of low progest, but FWIU, I think it depends on how long your LP is. As in, if you have a 14+ day LP and spot for the last few of those days, you're probably okay, but if you have a shorter LP and spot for the last part of it, that's probably more of a concern. If I were in your shoes, I would think that 5 days of spotting at least warrants a mention to your HCP.
Have you done anything different in the last few cycles that might have influenced your hormones?

I think 1-2 days of spotting can be very normal, especially with a normal luteal phase. 3-5 days is a good sign that something is not right - I think even with a normal length LP, 5 days of spotting (it it happens every single cycle) should be checked out, especially if you are having trouble TTC.
I was spotting with short LP and had my prog. BW taken, it came back normal (14) but Dr gave me prog. supps anyway since I had been TTC unsuccessfully for a while. They lengthened my LP but I still had spotting 5 days before AF. Dr. doubled my dose and finally, I have normal LP with no spotting (this is my 4th cycle without spotting). My spotting was persistant and had been happening for years...
Since you have been ttc for a year, it would be something worth investigating. Maybe you have had a prog. problem all along and you are just now starting to manifest symptoms, who knows? Good luck!

Thanks for your replies!
I haven't done anything differently that I can think of. Even when AF is a little late, my LP is rarely longer than 12 days, so almost half of it can be spent spotting on and off. I do have a NMW appt. coming up next week, so I will mention the low progesterone theory. Thanks!
