Hi ladies,
Sorry I'm putting this thread up a bit late and mostly just piggybacking on Adorkable's fantastic design skills (it's finals week for me here!).

Here's a question to get us started: when you imagine yourself with your baby, is there a particular image you hold on to? For me, I see myself sitting on our red couch, in the sunlight, holding or nursing the baby, and it's peaceful and quiet all around. (I know, famous last words of someone who hasn't done this before). But I love that image of us just being together.

We will all get there one way or another!

p.s. Jenne-congratulations on your amazing numbers! And welcome, Elonwy!

AFM-- I finally O'd this cycle, which means that now all we have to do is wait for AF and then...WE ARE TTC AGAIN!
Thanks for the new thread. May june bring many bfp's and only long healthy
and happy pregnancies!

I love your question. My vision is not so much of myself (is that weird?). My visions are of my father in law, parents, grandma, sister and siblings in law, all enjoying my child/ren. It is so important to me that my child/ren be able to meet, live, love and enjoy all of those that have most influenced my life and that they know who i am and where their father and i came from. Just this past weekend I was at my father in law's and i had visions of him playing lovingly with our children. I can't wait for it to be a reality.

Thank you Blanca. Good to finally be here
As for your question. What's funny is I never see her as a baby. She's always about 5 or 6, and running around outside. Up until about 6 months ago it would alternate boy/girl, and sometimes I would imagine my husband playing with a son or carrying one of the kids, but now its just a daughter and yesterday I figured out that I really want a girl. We are only planning to have one, as we are both only children, and we don't want to know the sex until the baby is born.
I'm rambling. I love your question thought

Elonwy--I really, really want a girl, too. It's just what I've always imagined. Of course I would be in love with any son of mine, too, but I only have sisters and just never really "got" boys. Of course, DH only has brothers, so he's the opposite!

IHeartMyFamily--I totally am there with you on wanting my baby to know his/her grandparents. My dad is getting old (almost 70) and one of my biggest anxieties is that my child will not get to know him as long as I would like. I think about it all the time--it's a major reason I'm so anxious to have a baby now as opposed to waiting a little longer.

I have so many peaceful images of my future child. Another one is just of DH and I walking through the woods with one of us having the baby strapped to us--when we go hiking it seems we always run into those blissful couples with their adorable infants out enjoying the natural world--I want so badly to be one of those couples! Just the two of us, walking with our child.

Thanks for the new thread! And, Adorkable, if you are reading, thanks for adding me to the list. You had so much excitement last month that it's amazing you had the time to thread-tend at all!

When I picture my child, I see myself sitting on the couch, in the corner where the chaise and sofa parts meet, holding my baby. I'm exhausted, hungry, and perfectly happy. Sometimes my husband is there, staring down at his baby, and sometimes the doorbell is ringing and my dad is at the door, coming to visit his first grandchild.

I don't think this dream is coming true this month--I'm 17 DPO and I think I'll start bleeding tonight or tomorrow. Negative HPT at 15 DPO. Here's a link to my chart if anyone wants to give an expert opinion

Happy days!

Thanks for the new thread Blanca!

I hope we clear this thread out this month with all the + tests! Wouldn't that be something?

So, evidently I'm compound heterozygous for the MTHFR mutation which has health implications for me and for potential children. There is a much higher risk of allergies, stroke, Type II diabetes and such. But it also can cause loss. At least I know now and tonight have started on the food based supplement which has megadoses of Folate, B12, and B6 (I think that's right). Anyway, I post this to say that I would encourage all of you to have this test run. It is a simple blood test, I don't think it is expensive, and since it has pretty grave health implications it would be good to know about.

Meander- How are things going on the pill? Did your hsg yield anything helpful?

AmandaMom- You are right. This will happen for you!

Newbian Mama- How are thing in CA today?

Kinza- I think you are right...that drop would indicate AF is around the corner for me. I hope this next cycle is yours!

QOTD: I often see myself snuggled into bed breastfeeding during naptime with the room dark but sunlight streaming in (you know ala dreamscapes/movies ). I also think about my DH holding a baby...and celebrating Father's Day...
I noticed on the roster it shows my starting TTC in 12/09...it's nitpicky, but it was actually 10/09. Of course it only matters in my own head where I count every.single.day....

Jenne--I got no answers from the HSG. The pills are kicking my butt--mood swings from hell, headaches, and digestive upsets. I never fared well on BCP before, and apparently that's still true. But it's all in a good cause, right? And it's only 2 more weeks. Two loooong weeks, but still.

I'm very interested/curious about the MTHFR. Is it just a basic blood test for that? I'm willing to look into anything that could possibly help my chances...plus I've totally maxed out my insurance deductibles for the year. Might as well get any tests done now.

My most common image is very simple....I'm just laying there, it's darkish, I've got my right arm curled protectively over my babe, and I just watch her face while she sleeps. (It's usually a she, but not always.)
I would officially like to join this thread. May I, if I'm still right on the cusp of TTC?

I'm 33 and have never been pregnant. My husband (32) and I have known each other for 18 years, started dating in 1994, and got married almost 9 years ago.

We've both been on the fence about having a child (we're thinking it would probably be an only, but I know "you never know") for a while. I don't know exactly what changed for me, but I decided I want to try to have a child in December or January. My husband asked for six months to think about it, and I agreed. I really want him on board, not reluctant. It hasn't been a full six months for him, but he told me last month he thinks he's ready.

I am now OFF the bcp for the first time in about 13 years as of this month! But we've been (loosely) charting to prevent because I'm a planner and I have it in my head that I need to wait until I see my doctors (OBGYN, PCP, dentist) and get all of my health stuff up to date.

I don't want to wait anymore. Should I be responsible and plan this thing to the hilt, which will take about two months, or should I throw caution to the winds and stop using condoms NOW? My mom was pregnant with me (her first) within 2 weeks of going off the pill, but she was 24 and I don't even know if these things are genetic.

As for your question, I have no trouble picturing my husband in a yard playing soccer with a boy or girl, but I haven't really imagined myself in a specific scenario with a child.

Blanca - Thanks for the pretty new thread. I'm sure it will bring you much thread-keeper's luck!

Kinza - I would have to agree that AF is around the corner. Hopefully it will be your last AF for a long time!

Neuromancer - Of course you're welcome to join! And since you asked for my opinion, I'm gonna give it to you. Unless you have pre-existing conditions that may affect TTC or a pregnancy or something, I say throw caution to the wind and the condoms out the window!

Great question, Blanca. We have a room in our house that is mostly empty except for a few stuffed animals and a rocking chair. It is the same rocking chair DP's mother used when nursing DP and her three brothers. I picture myself in that chair in the middle of the night, sleep deprived and nursing my little one. Sometimes that image is the only thing that keeps me sane these days.

Thanks forth new thread Blanca!! If you have any question about my strange coding or invisible numbers , please ask, I'm always here for you.

Jenne, I'm I the only one that every time I see "MTHFR mutation" I think it says something pretty rude!?? I may have my head in the toilet, sorry.

Neuro, welcome, this is great group of ladies, I'm just a tag along now, love them all too much to leave. I would personally do a full check up and dental stuff first. You may need some shots like tentnus that is not good to get while preggo and dental work in pregnancy is a annoying and possibly dangerous set of compromises. Better to take a month or two now to look after yourself and start charting and then you'll feel great knowing that you are starting out on solid ground.

AFM-
my daydream almost always involves me giving my babe a bath in a huge soaking tub, just floating around with them totally warm and comfortable. My older kid one is us doing science experiments together making a mess and learning cool stuff, it's what my grandpa always did with me and make me the maker geek that I am today.
My last and often Mose powerful one is one in a hospital room, I'm not sure but think I'm dying, in the room with me is what think maybe my grown son and a granddaughter that is maybe 8 or 10, we are really injuring time together and it is in no way sad, she looks exactly like me at that age.

Meanwhile back in current preggo land, I go for my first ultrasound tomorrow and am so excited I don't think I can sleep, but I also want to sleep right now so it can hurry up and be tomorrow!!! Have I mentioned this already, I may be babbling about it. They moved it up because I have such sucky cramps, though today they were tons better.

I'll report back tomorrow after lunch

I appreciate both of your replies (and welcomes). I think I'm going to hold out as long as I can (I have the OBGYN and PCP appointments made, as well as a skin cancer check (I had basal cell carcinoma a number of years ago) for June and July. I need to make the dental appt. I hate going to the dentist! But when I think about being pregnant, I'd rather aim for a spring/summer baby for some reason (though I know there are positives and negatives to either), so waiting a couple of months might actually be wise (if I manage to get pregnant once I stop preventing, that is). I think my shots are up to date, as I went to Egypt last month and saw my doctor for some boosters and inoculations, but I might as well double-check.

I don't think I'll start out temping; I'll just keep tracking my periods. I've done a trial run with temping and I'd rather wait to see if it takes me longer than 4 or 5 months to get pregnant. If that's the case, I'll get a copy of TCOYF and do a real chart.

Welcome Neuromancer! I will probably add you tomorrow--I just have an insanely busy day today--activities/deadlines schedules literally until past 10 p.m.

I love all your daydreams. AmandaMom--we have a rocking chair that my DH was nursed in and I have that same image--sleep deprived in the quiet middle of the night, nursing in that chair. These images mean so much to me to hold on to--I totally know what you mean about staying sane with them.

Neuromancer--about temping--I think that makes sense if you don't want to overthink stuff. However, I would just say that when I started temping (I held off for a few months), I quickly realized that I was ovulating not on the "average" day 14, but more like days 19-21 with a 10-11 day LP instead of the "typical" 14 day one. I had been freaking out that I didn't have any cervical mucus. Well, duh. I didn't because I wasn't ovulating at the times I was checking. It was important info to have, because we hadn't been timing sex right! So just be aware that sometimes it's hard to know when you're ovulating just based on cycle length. ALthough you say you've done a trial run with temping so maybe you already have a good idea of when you O.

Forgot to add--Adorkable, I'm assuming you'll come over and update us on your ultrasound--we will be eagerly waiting! I'll be thinking of you.
