My family is dealing with the aftermath of a fire Monday morning that has caused considerable smoke damage to everything we own.
Our insurance company has told us they emphasize cleaning over replacement, but I am concerned about the chemicals used to remove the smoke odor. Even if our things don't smell afterwards, I am not convinced that there will not be toxins lying around harming my family. I am also 2 months pregnant and worried about how these chemicals might affect the baby.
Does anyone have experience with this, or just some knowledge about smoke removal? Do I potentially have a case for persuading the insurance company to lean more towards replacement?
