Shedding.

Well, it's started. I'm shedding. Happens every time. All those hairs that hung on through the pregnancy are now all falling out at once. *sigh* I have pretty thick hair, anyway, so it's not terrifying or anything, but GAH, it's ANNOYING!!

Tell me I'm not the only one

Yup, just noticed yesterday and today. I'm 9 1/2 wks out. Glad my hair is long enough to keep up.

the shedding is annoying - but what is worse, for me, is when all those tiny replacement hairs come in and make my hair that much frizzier (curly hair + tiny little hairs = funky looking hairline until they grow in a bit)

So gross.

My hair was a dry, shedding mess since I had Apollo. Why so dry?

Anyway today I treated myself to a haircut at an organicish salon and even splurged and bought some moistureizing hair product.

Totally crazy. Either I shedded earlier with DD1, or I forgot when, because I thought I had escaped the curse. No such luck. It's awful! Even DH has been commenting. And, between my hair being long (about down to my bra strap in the back) and it being 90 degrees here, it's pretty darn gross.

I was just telling DP that I am shedding like crazy. I mean globs of hair. My hair is pretty long so it's really making a mess. It is so interesting to go through all these changes even 12 weeks after DD was born!

Ugh, me too, it started about a week ago. My hair is down to my waist, but it's not thick, so I have maximum annoyance from these long strands going everywhere and nervousness watching my hair get thinner! It's interesting to see that even now nearly 3 months after the birth our bodies are still trying to readjust from the pregnancy process.

nak

i'm scared how much hair i'm gonna lose because i had poly cystic ovaries before pregnancy and had hair thinning problems anyway. i'm really loving my thick lustrious hair right now. it'll start 4 me soon tho... i'm only 9 weeks pp.

yep, here too. although i started shedding basically from day 1 PP and it's just continued all this time. i'm glad i have really thick hair, but it's so long that every few hours i'm combing out a rats nest. it's sort of satisfying, but more annoying than anything else.

OK--does anyone remember how long the shedding lasts?
For me it starts at 4 months PP and ends at 6-7 months. It has't started for me, but I am NOT looking forward to it. I still have hair growing in from my first DD!

For me- it lasted really long like to a year- I think. I remember I started freaking out about it a bit. Luckily- I have pretty thick hair. This time I am taking Biotin- i have no idea if it will help!

Sigh. Thanks Josie and Dierdre. I was at a friend's son's bday yesterday, and she's a physician and confirmed that.

Well, I used it as an excuse to buy a new stick vacuum that I wanted!

Me too! ME TOO! I hate showers because I pull out fistfulls of hair.

Ok yesterday I swear I could have made a kitten out of my shedding hair just from brushing it once. It wasn't even tangled! Agh! I hate having to save the gobs from clogging my drain. It feel so unnatural to me to lose so much hair.

I'm so happy I stopped by and found this thread! The amount of hair I'm shedding is unreal! I don't remember this happening with my son!

OMG! You have curly hair, too!? We're both short, we both looked big when pregnant, we gave birth on the same day, we both have curly hair, and there were all sorts of other similarities I noticed over the last 9 months. Maybe I'm just weird, though.
