Another June baby has made her appearance!!! Isabel Cristina was born June 1 at 9:35pm. She is a little peanut at 6 pounds, 10 oz and 18 1/2 inches. I can't believe she is actually here!
I'll post a more detailed birth story later, but it was a fast labor (especially compared to my first- 23 hours) at 6 1/2 hours from organized contractions to birth. I had a planned hospital birth, but was able to labor and give birth in the water with a CNM. Isabel came into the world in three intense pushes. I held her right after birth and my husband did skin to skin with her while I got stitched up (a small 2nd degree tear).
So far nursing is going well and I think my milk is coming in. This is a huge blessing as nursing was a huge struggle right away with DD#1, although I'm happy to say I'm now a tandem nursing mama of a newborn and a three year old. I'm also healing so much better than my first birth. I have virtually no pain, can walk around, and do all the stuff I wasn't able to just a few days ago at 39 weeks pregnant.
I'm still adjusting to being a new mama of two and my priority is definitely making sure this little one thrives and my other DD feels important and loved.
Off to get some food, nurse the babe and pick up DD#1 from school. I can't wait to read all the other birth stories and check in with the new mamas!
