Endoscopy/Colonoscopy side effects?

Hi all,
My 17 yo is going for an endo/colonoscopy with biopsies next week. Is there any thing I should be aware of during the recuperative period? Has anyone had anything like this done, or done to their kids? How long did it take for you to be back up and around again? Anything weird you experienced?

Just a bit of a sore throat for my kid. He doesn't eat by mouth so it didn't affect anything much, but I've heard that some times they don't want to eat for a day or so just because it's uncomfortable. It didn't really seem to bother my guy much at all and he was back to normal that afternoon.

I have had them frequently since 14yo. He'll probably have a bit of a sore throat (postnasal drip rather than strep for comparison) from the endoscope, and he may have some extra gas from the colonoscopy.

And, his overall recovery from the grogginess will really just depend on the meds used and how he tolerates them. I'm usually back to normal within 2-3 hours after the procedures, but I still take it easy the rest of the day due to the lengthy fasting and cleansing.

I've never had soreness from an endoscopy so ymmv. Never had any issues with a colonoscopy.

By the time either procedure is done, the worst is over. He'll be groggy and take a really loooooong, pleasant nap.
