POSTPARTUM Wellness Center - would you go?

If you had a Postpartum Wellness Center, would you go? One that targeted mom within the first year of motherhood

Of these services, which would you use/recommend to others?

-depression counselling

-alternative health resources for PPD (postpartum depression); namely an herbalist, chinese medicine, acupuncture, but others as well

-support groups

-chiropractic care for mom and baby

-EFT sessions (emotional freedom technique) to deal with birth trauma, ppd, other emotional issues

-life coaching to discuss/achieve parenting/life goals/find your life passion

Are there other things you'd like to see there that would be beneficial?

I really wish there was somewhere like this. When I was struggling with PPD after my 2nd, I wanted to go to Julia Ross' (The Mood Cure) clinic but found they not so bf'ing friendly, wanted me to wean if I enrolled in their clinic.

What do you think??

I would have!!!

Especially if it focused on helping ALL moms who are recently postpartum - not just those that a struggling. New mom support groups are so hard to find for me (I really don't know why, but I can't find any that I can attend).

I would! As long as they were family-friendly - I would need to bring my other children with me. It's just not feasible for me right now to arrange childcare.

I would have loved to have gone to a place like this after I had DD. Both DD and I had a traumatic experience during birth, and postpartum. Having those support services would have been wonderful. The only thing is that you would have to make is accessible to anyone who needed the services you offer. Part of the problem with some of these services is that they aren't available to the people who need them most/people who are low income. I think my depression wouldn't have gotten to the point that it did, and I would have had a better/more enjoyable time being a SAHM.

When I was living in CA and actually working as a doula, we had a parents center where people could come for new mom groups, pre- and post-natal yoga, lactation support, classes on newborn sleep, babywearing, etc., meet the doulas events, La Leche League, multiples parenting classes, birth trauma support groups, infant CPR, a forum to meet local chiros, IBCLC's, sleep specialists, etc., baby sign language, and special events for new parents. You could drop by to get info on local professionals, weigh your baby, breastfeed, ask questions, or just hang out. Everything was either free or very reasonably priced.

If we had that in my little Kansas town I'd be there in an instant.
