Beans soak water to water plants?

Does anyone water their plants with the liquid from a bean soak? I just soaked some black beans overnight and I'm considering watering some potted plants with the liquid (st. john's wort, goldilocks, mums, vegetables in zone 8). I think I read that this is great for plants. If the liquid would enhance growth and health in the plants, I'd love to use it to water them!

Sure, why not? I water house plants with my rice washing water.

After reading the post we soaked some kidney beans, and then watered our indoor plants with the soak water. We cut the soak water 1 to 1 with fresh water. The plants may or may not love it (remains to be seen), but we don't the whole house reeks now. It's been 24 hours, we've had the doors open and the fan on in 50 degree weather, and still can barely stand it. Maybe if we'd cut it 20 to 1 or something it wouldn't have been so bad. Or just used it on outdoor plants. Just a word to the wise.

Same here! Always trying new ways to reuse things in the house. What I also do when boiling vegetables, is using the water (which is high in all sorts of properties) in sauces or incorporate it somewhere else in the meal. If it can't be used then I wait for it to cool and water my vegetables and herbs with it :)

...Friends of mine also wait for it to cool and drink it, but personally I'm not that brave haha.

I don't know why I hadn't thought of that before. I will definitely be doing that the next time I soak beans. Thanks for the idea!

We live in the arid SW. We keep a schnazzy 2 gal bucket in our sink for all sorts of kichen water (no sodium lauryl sulfate soap, though!) and then just empty it onto our garden. I avoid pouring it directly onto plants, but instead pour it into the mulch at their root zone. We empty it about twice a day, but since we're going out to be outside anyway, it's not a chore. The plants all seem to do fine with it.

I haven't used any of it on inside plants.
