Today's 36wk U/S reveals 6lbs of baby and a placenta that is removed 2.5cm from the cervical os (give/take 2mm - the baby's head is way far down and smooshing all up on it).
And, ladies, I've been - gasp - cleared for homebirth.
In no way had I expected clearance before 3cm, but the practice that backs up my midwife is leaving the decision solely up to her, and she, unequivocally, feels comfortable having me deliver at home. She and I both logically agree that I'd labor at home irregardless if the end delivery was planned for the hospital, so it stands to reason we'll proceed the same way and if an abnormal amount of blood began to reveal itself, I'll transfer to the hospital.
I'll admit, I now have a nervousness about me, but I'm chalking that up to months of living with the potential danger that accompanies complete previa. Too much reading, too much absorption of too many stories, and now I'm - poof! - cleared. Just like that.
I'm sure the nerves will pass.
For now, I think I celebrate that it's a-GO! and order myself up an overdue birth kit! Much Love!
