I think so. I've been gradually weaning myself off of Diclectin and I'm much groggier now than when I was taking twice as much. I'm not taking it as regularly (not same time every day, forget often, etc) so that's probably why. It's seriously annoying, especially just when I'm starting to feel better.

finally I think I have some relief. Unfortunately unisom didn't work for me

I take 4 mg zofran in the middle of the night (like 3-4am) and I can function and eat in the morning without throwing up when I get up. I take 1 zantac every 12 hours to help me actually eat and not have this constant burning sensation in my stomach that makes me nauseous and I take 4 mag citrate pills and 3 colace daily for the zofran constipation.

Considering I maybe have taken a few advil a few times a year in the past 3 years, I hate being so "drugged" but it's the only thing that allows me to get out of bed and eat and not wallow in depression because I am miserable. oh and I wear my glasses all the time - for some reason that helps too, I guess I have vision issues that add to my stomach upset.

I was so there a few months ago. Everything- the Zofran not working as well as it seemed to for everyone else (I puked on it many times), not wanting to take phenergan because of the side effects, the zantac for the constant reflux, the awful constipation even on Colace and prune juice to the point that I did enemas several times (mag citrate made me sick almost immediately, every time I tried). I tried unisom and b6 from the start and never noticed HUGE relief from it, and it made me very sleep at first, but I will say having a constant, and I mean constant, low dosage of it in my blood at all times took a slight edge off. If I didn't keep up with every single dose on schedule, though, it was not helpful to take occasionally whatsoever. I don't think it would have been enough on its own anyway, but it might have prevented a bit of misery.

There's only so much you can do to control it. Sometimes, for some women, there isn't a miracle pill or a perfect answer that if you just did everything right, you'd feel so much better. Sometimes all you can do is keep hydrated and make it through one miserable day at a time. I hope you get the light at the end of the tunnel like I did- around 14-15 wks I was just about normal and now at 24 wks only certain smells bother me here and there, I can eat like normal again.

Yes, but for a much shorter amount of time.

(Please bear in mind that Phenergan are my best friend. I would sooner give up my Vicodin, than I would my Phenergan. Pain I can push through, if necessary. Nausea? Nausea brings me down.)

I am this way too. I can handle pain, I have a high tolerance, I can push through. But nausea every time I eat - I get depressed. I don't want to eat, I want to cry. if it doesn't get better, I may have to go on antidepressants. So far, all I do is lay in bed, because if I move, I feel sick. I totally blame my PPD last pregnancy on the fact I was sick for 26 weeks. It pulled me down into a funk I could never climb out of.

lillymonster-
there are two more alternatives once you hit the second trimester. steroids-which is a newer therapy and many docs don't even know about it-it tends to be reserved for the more severe HG cases but looking into it doesn't hurt.
Also, ativan. again, tends to be reserved for the worst cases as benzos are less than ideal for a developing baby but it is an option on the table for the second trimester and early third trimester.
