in need of hemp education

So in my naiveté, i thought it would be easy to buy a few hemp diapers to augment my prefolds for nights and traveling. Well, i was wrong- they are just as varied and confusing as pockets, and covers.

Sooo, i see there are the hemp prefolds- the ones i saw were babykicks hemparoo, then i see what are called prefolds, but look like they don't have a 'fortified' center like i think a prefold having- the little/big weeds hemps, and although i couldn't find a pic, it looks like the new thirsties duo prefold hemp filler is like this too.

I am leaning toward the babykicks, but really its because it is most like what i know. I intend to use them with a snappi with and without the thirsties duos and WAHM wool covers i use already, mostly at night with a reg prefold, but also when we have to get in the car (we live in a v rural area). My son is 11 mths, 20 lbs and a beginning walker, if that helps. I am also toying with the idea of buying some microsuede and adding a layer of that to some hemps so they won't leave the moisture on his skin at night- needed? no?

Come on ladies, school me!

The Hemparoos (or Joey Bunz) are inserts made for pocket diapers for parents who prefer hemp over microfiber inserts.

The prefolds are same design as a cotton prefold with layers of hemp, thicker in the middle. When they wash they don't fluff up like cotton, they kind of pull together a bit more and are a bit thicker in the texture.

Personally I could never get the snappi to stay put in them, but ymmv.

Hum... this make it sound like the hemparoo wont serve for what i am thinking. is there a hemp diaper that is not super expensive that i can use prefold style? I am starting to think maybe i need to look at the hemp flats and learn to fold and snappi a flat- my son already runs when i start changes, so i would prefer to stick with prefolds, and really, i feel like even $8 each is a little high, but for just a few, it felt doable, should i consider something else?

It has to be imported since it can't be grown here so I am guessing that raises the price somewhat. I just googled hemp flats and the ones I found are $7.50 each.
I like pockets for nighttime but they are pretty pricey.

Maybe check diaperswappers or the trading post here and see if you could find some used???

I personally LOVE LOVE LOVE Crickett's hemp fitteds for nighttime. Throw a fleece liner in and you're good to go.

don't let the price scare you away. It is a superior fiber and worth every penny.
I chose Hemp as my primary fiber selection long time ago due to so many positives.

I would try the few at $8.00 and allow them to guide your way.

Yeah, i was just thinking of getting 3- enough to easily have one for every night- i did find the 7.50 ones, but i 'think' of them as 8 because i know there will be shipping, etc.

My biggest concern now is how will i get them to stay- if they don't work with a snappi- i guess i could add a microsuede or fleece strip to them- but i am super busy until august andi know i won't get to it until then. is it a better idea to get a few hemp doublers ( i saw one that was hemp and microfiber in a kind of ring that might be good to add to a prefold, but honestly, i have never used a doubler- i have three pockets and i stuff them with ratty prefolds and keep them in the diaper bag for trips.
