Natural toy suggestions for 1 year old boy

My cousin's son's first birthday is coming up, and I think I'd like to get him a natural toy. The other toys that he has that I've seen so far are the typical plastic, "made in china" type things from the big box stores, so since this would probably be the family's first introduction to quality, natural toys, I want to make sure it is something a 1 year old boy would really like and play with a lot. So if you have or have had a 1 year old, could you please help me out by listing a few of his favorite natural toys? Thanks!

Playsilks are great and have always been a favorite for my DD, from infant until now at 18mo. Also blocks... or things that make noise, like shakers or clappers.

I would say a $$ natural stacking cup set. My DD has just been captivated by her set since forever. But, if he already has a $5 plastic set, he might always favor that one.

Silks are a great idea, but those really require the parents to be on board with the concept of how they can be used for most anything.

I have used this in these situations before: rainbow people mover

It comes in natural, too!

Wooden or felted playfood might go over well. Most kids like to pretend to cook. You could give a nice bowl and spoon or plate with it too.

My DD just turned one, and the favorite new toys she got are a felted grocery bag with different foods in it, a drum with different instruments (maraca, etc) inside, and one of those wooden block mazes (where you move wooden blocks attached)
