I think I'm going to the doctor today (post partum issue)

DS is 4 weeks old. The first 2 weeks I had discomfort while my tears were healing. My bleeding all but stopped around 2 weeks pp. This past week or so one of my tears has been hurting really bad. The area (one side of my perinium) is swollen and red and I'm bleeding again. The discharge I'm getting seems to be a weird smell. I sure hope it's not infected. I'm waiting on a nurse to call me back. Hopefully I can be seen today. I've been in such pain. Had to take left over pain pills that last couple of days.

Anyone else having issues with healing?

This time around I am healing really well but with DD1 I had a horrible recovery. I only had a small tear inside, not even a first degree, but it took a couple months before I wasn't in pain, and almost 2.5 years before DH and I could DTD without me being in pain.

For me everytime I went pee it felt like I had a UTI, the burning was unreal. That lasted a good 4 weeks and I had a lot of swelling for a long time and my bleeding lasted 6 weeks. I wish I had gone to a doctor for it, or been more up front with my midwife.

I hope you are able to find something that speeds up the healing. I do know taking a lot of bathes is recommended.

I'm having a hard time healing here, though I don't think I'm fighting infection. DS literally peeled away a layer of my labia on one side. It was fine before the stitches dissolved, but since then it's reopened in places several times and is still swollen, even though the rest of me feels ok. I'm doing sitz baths again (need to get some herbs brewing) and my midwives recommended some comfrey gel to put on it. It has been frusterating to wait so long to heal

I also had a labial tear (tore across both sides). It hasn't reopened, but is still very uncomfortable. It constatly feels like it's pulling, which is painful. It doesn't look too bad, and I'm just trying to hang on a few more
weeks until my 6-week check up. I feel for you. Hope you start feeling better soon.

aaw, mama!! I feel for you! I hope you are able to get answers and that its not infection!! That is my worse fear with healing!!

Two weeks post partum and I still have moments of burning, tenderness and pulling from the stitches. It even hurts to go #2. And I seriously am worried of re-opening. uugh!! Can't wait until this is a distant memory..

No infection. Whew! She said I'm doing too much and that's likely causing the swelling. She also took out a couple of stitches that were coming out and causing irritation down there.

She gave me some pain meds to last a few days and told me to rest rest rest. Thankfully my parents are in town, and it's the weekend so DH is home from work. I have plenty of help and plan to take full advantage of it.

Thanks for the love mamas. Hope we are all feeling better very soon.
