One of our bunnies is very ill. He has head tilt. If you google pics of it you get an idea what he looks like. This disease is so distressing for everyone. He looks awful. He is rolling and spinning out of control so much he is just on the floor with a rug in a tiny enclosed space. Anything else he gets tangled in or smashes into. I have to give him injections, lots of oral meds, and feed him with a syringe.
My online support group for head tilt bunnies is great, very encouraging, and many there have pulled a bunny through this awful illness with success. It can take months.
I am just having a hard time dis-associating. It looks horrible to watch him. They say it is not painful, just disorienting and stressful. I HATE giving shots. I hate it. I really just have to say that--I hate hurting him. Bunnies have thick skin, and it takes two or three tries sometimes.
He has good days, and can eat a bit and scratch around the pen and likes to sniff his bunny friend.
He has bad days that are hard to watch. He has lost weight. He looks so pathetic
I don't know when enough is enough--I am going to add another antibiotic and give it two more weeks and re-assess. I just want the horrid spinning to stop. It is awful.
