swollen fingers

Hi,
I'm visiting my mom here in Eastern Europe and she has a couple of swollen fingers. There are no cuts the swelling is inside. She says her fingers hurt very badly and the pain originates from her fingernails.
Are there any home remedies for swollen fingers? She doesn't want to go to the doctor as they are not very good around here
TIA

If it is only a few fingers and not all of them, it sounds like and infection or injury. Could they be broken or sprained? Do they hurt all the time, or just when touched? Is there discoloration (bright red or brusing)? Ice & asprin or ibuprofen (not Tylenol) may help the swelling and pain. Only ice for about 20 min at a time. Keep the fingers elevated if possible.

My kids injure their fingers a couple times a year. If I cant feel any bones out of place, I don't bother with the doctor. We ice, splint & tape and give them ibuprofen, they are fine in about 10 days.

thank you so much
not all the fingers hurt just a couple of them but they hurt all the time. She says they started hurting a while ago and there was no injury she know of. Would ice still work?

My swelling in my 2 fingers stopped after I gave up drinking soy milk. It could be a food sensitivity.

Hmmm.. I should ask if she's had anything new in her diet.
Her fingers are still swollen and she's been having low-grade fever too.
