LO has graduated! (23 months)

We've done part-time EC since she was very little, but got more serious about it around 1 year. She has been pooping on BBLP (and later the big potty w/ seat) since around a year. Around 17 mos she got better with peepee... I think she would have gotten the hang of it faster if I had been brave enough to put her in underpants instead of diapers (cloth since birth).

About 3 months ago, I put her in underwear during the day at home and there were still plenty of accidents. It was no fun, but we just cleaned up and resolved to try again next time!

Finally I braved taking her out for short trips in underpants. When we're out, she will sit on a big potty with me holding her and go. We've never had an accident while out on the town. (Knock on wood)

For the last month, she's been in underwear all day except night & naps. We had days with no accidents and days with 1 or 2. Reading books about "big girls" who use potty has definitely inspired her. In the past two weeks, we've had more no-accidents days than not, so I say we have a graduate!

It is so nice not having those extra diaper loads of laundry to do! She has even been staying dry for most naps and some overnights too. Night-weaning has probably helped that too.

I am so darn proud of all of us! I hope this may help someone else out there - be patient and it will come!

thank you for posting....we've been doing PT EC with my 14 mo for about 4 months now.
A lot of his poops are on the little potty, mostly due to timing on my part.
Our biggest breakthrough is that he now tells me (signs) as he's peeing in his dipe, for about a month now. The tricky part seems to be getting him to tell me BEFORE he pees. lol

Congrats to you SeaBean...i would LOVE to have him all in undies by age 2!

We are at the same place with my 18 month old and it is so nice! I agree, it is sometimes more about US taking the plunge than them - congrats!

Congrats! we took the final plunge around 15 months and the diapers have been packed away with no accidents for over a month now.

I can't believe what a difference it makes to not have to wash diapers!!!

We were there for a while too.. she would say "potty potty!" AS she was making a big puddle.. A little exasperating but she seems to have figured it out on her own somehow.

Best to everyone!
