34 weeks, pains along incision

I'm 34 weeks (35 on Sunday, oh my!) and last night I started having some little pains along my incision. Today it is much more frequent. It's generally just a shot of pain on a small spot (not the same spot, it moves), it lasts about 1-5 seconds. Is this just normal and more scar tissue breaking up or should I call my MW?

(Not sure if this should be here or in VBAC so feel free to move it this is the wrong forum)

Hey there!

I can only speak from my own experience. I did get, what I would refer to as, twinges along my c/s scar when it started to really stretch out in the late 20-30 wk timeframe (I don't start to show until fairly far along). It stopped once I had sort of stretched it out completely, kwim? I think it took about a week or two. And I would certainly not describe it as being intense pain. If you're concerned though, I'm sure a quick call to your MW wouldn't be a bother to her if it will help put your mind at ease.

I went on to have a wonderful vaginal birth at home several weeks later. You can do it! Best wishes for your birth!

It's probably some adhesions breaking up. At 34 weeks, you're probably having some little contractions that most women would barely feel, but if they're pulling at tissue that got stuck together from the surgery, you'll feel the tugging. It's normal for a VBAC. If it's really bothering you, a good chiropractor, if they're experienced with working on pregnant women, can make some adjustments in your pelvis that will help break those up more so they stop hurting.

I had a myomectomy, not c-section, but same scar basically. I also get these twinges a lot. It's just adhesions and stretching. So far, 4 births and no problems, even when they hurt pretty bad. Rubbing some lotion/oil on the scar and circular massaging helps, as did going to the chiropractor for help with tight muscles in my hips and stomach. If it gets too severe or you are worried, talk to your hcp.

Thanks ladies! Oddly, I am not feeling them at all today. My MW is coming for our home visit on Tuesday so I will double check with her then. I figured it was probably pretty normal though.
