So far I've come up with:

Evelyn

Eva
Genevieve (jenna-veev)
Geneva
Vivienne

Can you think of any others??

xh loved the name Evening.

FWIW, if you name your baby Evelyn and call her Evie, everyone will think it's pronounced "Eh-vie".

Or they will pronounce her name "Eve-Lynn".

So unless you're totally in love with the name Evelyn (which fortunately I am though it still feels weird to call my baby that especially because she has several nicknames), you may want to consider another name.

My favorites are Genevieve, Evangeline, and Geneva - in exactly that order.

Love the nickname "Evie," by the way!

Huh. My step-niece is an Evelyn that everyone calles "EE-vie" and it's never been an issue.

Sigh. Not necessarily true. DD2, Evelyn, is almost three months old and we're still correcting family members who call her "Eee-vee". Personally, it never even occurred to me to shorten Evelyn with that pronunciation.

I know two Evies with a long e and both are Evelyns. I have to say that I adore Evangeline and Geneva. I once knew a Geneva, Dh would never go for it though.

I have come to the conclusion that there will always be people that unless the name is Tom and Jane, that have no idea what is it or how to pronounce it. I have classic names for my children, Madeline, Gabrielle, and Julian. Madeline gets called Madison all the time due to the 50 billion of them running around, or she gets Natalie a lot, really! Gabrielle gets called Gabriel all the flipping time, even by doctor's offices when it is correctly printed for them to read. And I am floored by all the people that can not figure out Julian, half think I made it up, the other half think it is a girls name and then there are the ones that can not pronounce it, and call him "Jul-en". It is hopeless.

There's also Genevieve with the French pronunciation (I'll try to do it phonetically!): ZJON-vee-ev.

I have an Evan (girl). There are so many nice options for Evie!

An old classmate named her daughter Evania. (ee-VAYN-ee-uh). Evie could be a nn for that.

I was going by my experience in having a daughter named Evelyn that we call Ee-vie.

I have to agree here! I have an Isaac, who came home from school with "Isiak" written on his art last week, his CHURCH run preschool. I joked that these teachers clearly weren't reading their Bible. But yeah, we have Avery and Isaac, and we get all kinds of mispronunciations that I never would have expected, both are pretty normal names, with the typical spellings.

My vote is pick the name you like the best and shorten it to Evie if you want!

We know an Evie whose name is. . .Evie.

If you like Evie so well and can't find a longer name, why not name her Evie? It works at every age: infant, 2, 10, 30, 60, 87. . .in professional and casual relationships too. (That's my test of a name, by the way.)

Good luck!

I agree with Evie as a name all to itself, not as a nickname. It was on our shortlist for girls! (turns out it's a boy so we'll have to save it for later)

E.V. Just find a middle name that starts with V.
