Clogged tear duct?

Ailin will be 2 weeks old on Monday. For a day or two he has sounded like he has a stuffy nose. Now he has some goobery eye stuff on the same side as the stuffy nose. It doesn't seem to be bothering him. The inner corner of his eye is a little red.
I was going to text the pediatrician about it, but maybe it's one of those things that will just go away.

Also, he is the sleepiest baby ever. He falls asleep while we're nursing a lot. I guess I shouldn't worry about it since he has loads of dirty diapers. He is clearly getting enough to eat. LOL

George had the same thing going on a few days ago, it ended up clearing up on it's own overnight. If it sticks around in your little one, you can try expressing a few drops of breastmilk into his eye-that should clear it up.

Totally normal-wipe his eye from the inside corner out a few times a day with a clean, warm washcloth, then express breastmilk into the eye. It works like a charm

My son has had that since he was born. We asked his ped about it when he was about 2 days old and he said that it is something that will go away on its own and to just wipe it with a warm wet cloth when it gets goopy or sticky. He said it's due to an underdeveloped tear duct but that it will go away once it's finished developing. Usually if we wipe it once or twice a day it looks fine. He doesn't seem bothered by it either. I have never heard of the breast milk thing but that is interesting.

It can last for up to 1 year though, B had it until he was at least 8 months old and maybe even longer. I tried breast milk several times and nothing seemed to work, it was unsightly but we kept it wiped off and it never seemed to bother him only me LOL

Thanks everyone. I texted the pediatrician about it too. She pretty much said the same thing, except for the breastmilk part. I did that this morning because my friend's daughter has the same thing and she puts boobjuice in her eye. Sounds weird, but makes sense I guess. It does seem to help anyway.

The doc also told me to massage the area between the corner of his eye and his nose to help it unclog.
