I thought Country Save was supposed to be good!

But we've been using it on our clothes for over a year now, and even with the Country Save oxygen bleach and a pre-soak, its not working. We are about to start diapering a newborn again and I'm thinking I need to switch brands...

We used Charlies for a while, but it was in another country/we air dried everything/had a front loading washer, and I never got too impressed with it.. Granted, our washing machine is ancient and non-efficient right now, but its what we have and I have to live with it.

Anyone else have experience with Country Save? If Charlies' doesn't work, other suggestions on favorite detergent for dipes/wipes and normal clothes?

I wonder if you have either hard or soft water? I just bought some rocking green and have soaked diapers, sheets, and towels in it. All I can say is eww! My water was really gross!!! The idea is to use this detergent to help remove buildup from over time. Now with using it regularly you shouldn't get buildup anymore. So far so good for us but I've only had it a few weeks. The soaks alone were enough to convince me that it was worth a shot to switch.

I've had been using Country save, biokleen, or Arm and Hammer free and clear previously. I never felt my diapers weren't clean but definitely feel better about them now.

Thanks! Our water is really soft. I do think its time for a switch...

I've been using CS with our hard water for a while now and don't really have any complaints. Other than the fact that it's not rinsing clean, but that has more to do with the front loader than anything else.

How exactly is it "not working"?

Its not rinsing clean. And things that used to get clean(dirty socks, pregnancy underwear, stained clothes), are barely seeming any cleaner than they went in...

I just ordered some rockin green. Maybe I just need to use less since we have such soft water.

Since you said you have an older washer just thought I'd ask. Do you think it is agitating good. I have noticed a huge difference with that. Once I had mine on gentle cycle for some dress clothes and didn't switch it back and wondered why my dipes weren't as clean

Soft water should make it easier, not harder, to get things clean. Are you sure that the washer is working?

The only thing I like about Country Save is that it doesn't build up on fleece. But otherwise it doesn't wash very well. Anytime my kids find a mud puddle, I know I'll have to say goodbye to that set of clothes. I can smell my husband's deoderant on his shirts after they've been washed. But it does get pee smell out when my kids wet the bed! Weird!
