quick! bone broth question

Thread Starter
I'm making my first beef bone broth. I defrosted a bag of bones (I have no idea what kind) from the 1/4 grass fed beef we got in the winter. I'm roasting them now at 325 in the oven. But how long do I roast them before putting them in the crockpot? How do I know they are ready to go in? Also, does it matter if I just put the bones and water in, nothing else...It's too nice of a day right now to worry about adding veggies, I just want to play outside.

Thanks!

I don't know the time, I'd roast them til they are sort of... golden and roasty looking and not burned. Ideally they should have some color on them (caramelized/browned meat type color).

sure, you don't have to add veggies, it's just an option

Is there a need to roast the bones?
I never roast mine, just put them raw in a large pot and a splash of ACV.

I never roast mine either. The broth seems to gel nicely, so I figure it's probably fine...
