In need of a little encouragement

My water broke Wednesday morning, at 3:30. It is now Saturday and no regular contractions.

Did chiropractic treatment, acupuncture, walking, cotton root bark. I have full support of my midwife to wait and I'm ok with waiting.

It' the other people! Word got out Wednesday that I would have a baby soon and people have done nothing but call and pester us and doubt what we are doing home still. I haven't been answering the phone to repeat callers...

And my MIL came to help with the older kids but it seems she has either forgotten or doesn't have the energy to keep up with them.

My first two labors were quick (8 hours from realization that I was in labor to babe in arms) so this is something I'm not used to.

Maybe I just wanted to vent to a crowd that would understand....

M water broke on a Friday evening and my DS was born on Monday night. I had NO labor, except very vague occasional ctx, until transition.
Then I took some castor oil (1 TBSP, barely) and a few hours later had to poop, which led straight to pushing/transition. I mean immediately. It was intense.
It would appear I had dilated silently all of those days and just needed a nudge. So you never know what's going on.

You sound like you are ready! But calm, so that's great.
And it's annoying when people are bugging you about it, people were shocked that I was just waiting it out, too. I hope the babe comes soon, as long as you're both ready!

Hope you are holding your LO very soon! Sounds like you are so close. I always get so frustrated by all those that have to just "push in" for "front row seats" at the end. Always calling, always asking, "did you have that baby yet?", and so on. Makes me want to go mad! So I just turn off the phones and try and relax. It will happen soon enough.

Oh wow! Just hang in there. Sorry people are bugging you. They have no idea how frustrating it is!!!

Keep us posted. We'll be thinking labor thoughts for you!

My water broke about 5 days before I actually went into labour. It did reseal itself in the meantime though, but that was a tough wait (especially as I was already 42+2 weeks when my water broke!!)

Take the phone off the hook and get a message out that you will let them know when the baby arrives but meantime you are trying to relax and be peaceful. (aka - Go away and leave me alone! )

Thank you very much for all your replies!

Five days after my water broke, I finally got to active labor last night. Called the midwives about 12, babe in arms about 1:30. My shortest labor yet, 3 hours or so. I had a hard time believing the baby had come so soon because my other ones were 8 hours! But I guess 5 days of intermittent contractions will do that...

My sister and I took great joy in calling people last night and waking them up!
