My daughter has a chest cold she is 2 and has the mucousy runny nose and has a elevated temp. Now her breathing seems to be fast like in out in out and not normal or deep breathes.

Is there anything I should be looking for? What can I do to help ease her discomfort ?

That might be seen as a worrisome sign. What's her heart rate like? I think I'd give a call to the nurse's line if I were you.

Her Heart rate is 124 bpm ( the normal range for her age is 90- 140 bpm)

Rapid breathing is normal with a temperature. (google rapid breathing fever)

But if you see blueness around the mouth, or any wheezing or struggling to breath, then of course that would be an ER visit.

Does it make a difference if it is through her nose? Her nose seems clear slight run but still fast paced breathing through her nose.

It might be croup, make sure you stay close at night, that is when it gets worse. Cold dry air helped my DS, not the hot/steamy which is usually recommended to go in the shower. If you have a/c I would crank it.

Is she neck breathing? Like, is that little soft spot above her collarbone going in and out when she breathes? That is a sign of asthma.
