I need a new sewing machine and someone is going to get one for me . I can't go crazy expensive and I don't really need a whole lot of frills anyway.

I want to do some quilting, making baby carriers, other home stuff, etc. Anyone have any thoughts on this machine? I read the other post with the thread offer so if I do get it that would be awesome!

TIA!

Hello?? No one? Well it was bought so I guess I'll come back and post a review! In the meantime if someone does pop in and have this or have experience with this model, I'd love to hear about it!

I have it, I really love it. I upgraded from an inexpensive old school Singer so it was really exciting to get a lot of the nicer features, even though I couldn't afford the 6500. The start/stop stitch buttons are fabulous as well as the auto threader, built in thread cutter and foot-pedal-free sewing. I did have to add a single stitch throat plate (for the darning attachment). Some of the decorative stitches get stuck easily, so I found it works better on a slower speed for the thicker designs. Right now I'm quilting a twin size blanket and it's holding up just fine, I have a double blanket to baste & quilt next and I think it will be okay with a little shoving It's good and solid. I did a six fold (thick) binding on it with a thick batting using the walking foot and had no problems

Oh good, thanks! It should be here by Thursday so I'm excited. I also have a Singer that's about 15 years old. I lost every accessory to it and it is running kind of slow so I'll be glad to get the TB!
