question about charting while nursing

Hi everyone. I need some expert advice : ) My dd is 12 months old and I am breastfeeding her and she is eating lots of solids. I have been charting for 3 months to observe return of fertility. I have not detected ovulation yet. My temps have been around 97.3 or 97.4 for these three months. The last two weeks or so my temps have been a bit higher (98.0 to 98.1), but are still regularly dipping down to 97.3 or 97.4. I have not been able to confirm ovulation from temp or cervical mucus. I've had a few wet patches, but no eggwhite.

Why are my temps. suddenly going up so much? Is my fertility about to return? I can't find much info on this. I did read in The Garden of Fertility that this type of sustained temp. rise means fats in the mom's body are going less to make milk and more to her own body and this can mean ovulation is around the corner.

Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated. I am just confused!

Have you read Taking Charge of Your Fertility? They suggest that charting is much more difficult while breastfeeding. I tried charting for a few months but gave up because i wasnt getting a period nor was i finding anything worth charting...kwim?
If there is another method or different way of charting I would love to know about it. I really want to get off the mini pill. As that is what we decided to go with.
