Is it worth it to repair the elastic in my FBs?

Hi there!

I have about 20 medium fuzzi bunz that I used for about 2 years with my daughter and am now using with my one year old son. The elastic is pretty shot in most of them, which is making them leak because I just can't get most of them snug around his legs.

I tried repairing the elastic in one of them a while back, and that made it better (not perfect but close enough) but took me like 2 or 3 hours - probably because I didn't know how to do it and was figuring it out...presumably I would get faster...

We are also having some minor issues with smell and some of the snaps. So anyway, I'm wondering if you think it is worth spending the time to fix each one, or if it's time to get some more diapers to get us through until he potty trains? Have any of you repaired the elastic in fuzzi bunz?

Thanks in advance!

Here's a tutorial:

Also, on same site, there are WAHMs that repair elastic. Cheaper than buying new diapes.

Hi Ami,

Thanks for that link. The pictures don't work anymore but the instructions were great. I've repaired over half of my diapers now and it only take me about 10 minutes per diaper! I decided to make a youtube video of how to do it since I couldn't find any out there. I hope it's useful to someone! Thanks again for the link!

Those were instructions for the old style FBs...I have the OS FBs..and I got elastic with my order...would sewing even be needed if I should have to replace elastic in the new ones? Looking at one it seems I could just work it through?

You are definitely right...mine are old They improved the design with the new OS FBs. I just got one and it even came with replacement elastic, so you just unbutton and pull out the old elastic then put in the new whenever it gets shot - no sewing needed. The ones I was repairing are 3 year old size mediums.
