Have you gone swimming with young twins by yourself?

My husband won't be home until after 8pm tonight and I'm dying to go swimming but I'm an only adult with 7 yrs old girl and 1 years old twins. How do any one of you handle having both twins when swimming? The pool nearest me doesn't have a toddler pool but do have wading area that will become deeper as I walk further into the pool. I have asked several of my friends who lives near me to go with me but they're unavailable.

The only way I think I could maybe handle it would be if I had the twins in lifejackets. At our pool they have floating bucket like things that can hold 2-3 children so I could put them in there as well. How well does your 7 year old swim? Do you need to have hands available for her as well? I'm not sure I would have the guts to try swimming with young twins . Ours are almost two and when we go swimming we've always had both myself and dh (along with our older dc's). We only go in the small pool and even that seems a handful when I'm holding the twins.

Good luck if you do try to go!

My daughter does not swim well but she can play in pool independently because there are area where children can interact. This pool has an area with two water slides, a small area with a raining mushroom (this is probably where I'll be with the twins), and an area with a tall pole with 4 buckets attached to it and it'll fill water in each bucket until a bucket overflows with water then it'll pour water to people down below, a large sturdy floating alligator that children could climb and play on it. I love this pool so much and I love the location where I live because there are SO MANY water related activities near me.

Anyways, I have decided that we will not be going to swimming today because I want to put my twins in these ( Frog Learn-to-Swim Baby Seat Rider with Top and Poolmaster Busy Bee Baby Seat Rider) when my DH is with me then maybe I'll be brave enough to do it alone next time.

" At our pool they have floating bucket like things that can hold 2-3 children so I could put them in there as well." Do you think you could google online to get an image of this "floating bucket" you talked about so I could look for it in store?

Thanks for the input!

We have a zero-entry pool/water park near where I live. The summer my twins were 1, we went to that several times (by we I mean I took them by myself) without pfd's or floaties. When I took them to the regular pool or hot springs, I put them in these http://www.amazon.com/INTEX-RECREATI.../dp/B000HAB296 .

I always brought my sling, because eventually one would be done with the water and just want to be held. I found it easier to take them to the pool when they were 1 then the summer they turned 2. At 2 they were done with the floaties, but didn't yet know their personal limits. HTH

Update

My dh and I went to the pool yesterday. Finally! But the pool does not allow ANY type of floaties! I was VERY disappointed. This pool did have lifejackets for toddler under 50 lbs but one of my twins hated it and wouldn't stop screaming/crying until I took it off. After we were done swimming, my dh and I went to dick's sporting store, target, walmart, babiesrus, and toysrus to look for two lifejackets or a build in lifejacket in a swimming suit for our 1 yrs old twins but only could find 30+lbs life jacket.
