Is there a cloth alternative to goodnights for my 5yr old?

My daughter is 5 years old and weighs 39 lbs. We are currently using goodnight underwear for her but they give her a nasty rash and are really expensive. She is a bed wetter nearly every night. Is there a cloth alternative for someone her size and age?

I will be on this board a lot soon since I am pregnant with baby 3, due in November, and we are going to use cloth diapers for the first time. So, I will have lots of questions. However, I was hoping I may find something for my daughter so she can heal that rash for hers (it is on her low back/upper butt area).

Thanks!

We use Happy Heiny's Pocket Trainers

We started using them last year for DD, she was roughly 40" tall and 40 lbs - we used the size medium with two inserts. They are rather bulky and in the past couple of months she has refused to wear them because she doesn't like how they feel against her.

I second the Happy Heinys. Tiny Tush also has a trainer that was originally marketed as a bed wetter solution, these are in limited supply right now.

I've tried the Motherease Bedwetter pants both for my 5 year old DS and 3 year old DD1. They've been hit or miss with keeping DS' bed dry at night, but then again so are the GoodNites. They're pretty bulky and DD1 seems to think they're uncomfortable and doesn't care for them. DS could sleep in/through anything so he doesn't have any complaints, but they don't always hold everything (he sleeps deeply and pees a LOT). They are a bit pricy too, I just bought one pair for each of them to try and haven't liked them enough to buy another pair.

Dd2 is a heavy soaker at night and my Kawaii AIO's with two inserts are not cutting it anymore. It's gotten to the point where she needs a full PJ and diaper change at night. (It also has to do with how much liquids she consumes near bedtime of course.)

Anyway, just .... I remember sposies working alright but am not keen on going back to them. I would like a cloth alternative.

I vote for the Happy Heiny pocket trainers, too. DS is 4.5 and can really be a heavy wetter at nights sometimes (though he can also go up to 2 weeks between accidents!). He's roughly 40lbs and 42 inches tall and wearing the mediums. Looks like he has plenty of room to grow with them, too. He's only been wearing them a few weeks, but he says they are really comfy and he has had 3 accidents since starting them with absolutely no leaking at all! We're currently using premium prefolds trifolded to stuff, but I plan on getting a couple the toddler sized ones so that they will go all the way from waist band to waist band.

Also, I have one with snaps on one side and another with snaps on both sides. I MUCH prefer the snaps on both sides... so much easier to stuff!

Thanks everyone! I am going to try the Happy Heiny pocket trainers. I am debating on what insert I should use and if I should use 2 inserts or not. Hmm. Gotta do some research. Anyways, thank you so much everyone for all the help! I really appreciate it!

I was just about to ask this question regarding my 6yo. We tried the happy heinys with our older 2 kids and gave up on them. Maybe I'll try them again though. One problem was that we only had one for each kid so we HAD to do laundry daily. They also leaked and were bulky. I was hoping there'd be something new as that was 4 yrs ago.

Luckily middle son was dry at 5, but dd wasn't dry until after her 8th bday. I think I may be looking at 2-4 more yrs of bed wetting w/this ds. :-(

We use the happy heiny trainers too - with a bigger weeds insert (just one of those - they offer a lot of absorbency)

Also look here!

The bedwetting store at bedwettingstore.com (google search) and amazon has a retailer too for bedwetting cloth in color boxer type pants.
