A couple weeks ago, I sat down on the ground at a park and accidently stuck my hand on a chestnut burr. Many of the thorny pieces got stuck in my hand, and my hand mottled, became itchy, and swelled up a little. It went down after awhile and the next day, I got most of the little bits of thorn out. I thought it was all gone, but today I was looking at my hands and where some of the thorns were there look to be warts, but they aren't-they're where the thorns were at exactly and look to have tiny thorn particles or something under them. They are way too small for me to get out. Could I be having a reaction to them? I've never eaten chestnuts before or touched the tree, and never had something like this happen with other thorns. I can't find *any* info on this happening to other people. My doc just moved out of town, so it will be awhile before I can find another who takes my insurance.
ETA: I am allergic to kiwi and did find that chestnut cross reacts with that whole latex family.
