Using whey in the garden

Whenever we make cheese, there's obviously whey left over. I've heard it's good for the garden, but what do I do with it? Do I just water the plants with it? Do I dilute it first?

And why is it supposed to be good for the garden? Is it the calcium?

You don't want to use it in smoothies or for lacto fermenting? Or do you just have a ton of it? I don't know much about it's use in the garden, but I would assume it is really great for building healthy microbes, just as it's good for our own flora and fauna!

If I ever have extra my chickens get it (and devour it) but maybe it wouldn't be so bad to give new transplants a little love! I'm going to look into it!

I've poured a bit on my tomatoes and peppers. So far so good... I'm not sure the amount. I think it works because it's acidic and those plants like acidic soil.

I'm such an idiot- I never even thought about giving some of it to my chickens!
