What do you do with homemade goods that you don't want?

I can't believe I'm even asking this as someone that makes a lot of things for people myself. But I am decluttering and have come across several scarves. Two made by my Mom and one made by my Mil. Here are the reasons for gettting rid of them:
1. My Moms are super skinny and therefore I don't ever use them, plus she used scratchy yarn on one and I really don't use it b/c it's uncomfortable
2. My Mil made two of the same, (one for each boy). They refuse to wear them, but I really liked one. So I'm keeping one.
3. We are selling everything we own at the end of the year and moving onto an RV, so most everything has to go regardless.

Sooo...they are not that special as in heirloom stuff. They were simply made by people we love and are special only for that reason. But they are not that useable to us and therefore I would like to pass them along. But to who?

Perhaps you could donate them to a homeless or DV shelter?

I like to take things like that to clothing swaps, or donate to the local charity thrift store. Then you know that whoever ends up with it will probably appreciate it.

Ditto dv shelter. I like to give handmade items there b/c they are going to women and children who need things at a low time in their lives. I imagine its a nice way for them to feel special after they've been treated terribly so long.

could you give it back to your mom? I'd appreciate a return of items (I know that horrible). It's just that I put so much work into it.

If I liked the yarn, I'd consider frogging them and reusing the yarn. Otherwise, I just donate things to Salvation Army.

I don't think so. My Mom is not the kind of person to go for that. She would just complain about it. But I totally get the sentiment and have told someone that before when I gave them a gift.
