Getting baby's birth certificate, Canada

We have a lovely sticky thread (which was hard to find, but it is there), that lists many American states and one Canadian. It hasn't been active in a while, so I thought I'd put a shout out for more info!

Does anyone else have info on Canadian Provinces, we have Alberta already.
I'm looking for Newfoundland specifically, but would love to add them all.

Thanks

In QC, you just call to get the form from here; http://www.etatcivil.gouv.qc.ca/en/contact-us.html and send it in.

It is very straightforward and simple. There is a part that is supposed to be filled out by the doctor or midwife but it provides for an "other".

I would love to know for Nova Scotia as well! It's a possibility in my future

In Ontario, you get a card with a website address. You fill out a series of questions online and can register the birth and order birth certificates and SIN as part of the process.

In BC you call the province of bc and request a registration of live birth packet, as well as an unassisted package, you do this during pregnancy. You fill out all the paperwork and are required to get two notarized letters from non family members that say that they saw you pregnant, saw your baby, where they live etc, then mail the whole shebang in. the notarized letters are a pita, because most notaries dont know about the form, so we had a few refuse to notarize them.

British Columbia
1. Contact the Vital Statistics Agency by calling General Enquiries at 250 952-2681 (Victoria) or by email.

2. Ask for an "Unattended Birth Package." The person you speak with may not know what you are talking about, but they will take down your information and mail you one.

3. The package contains the registration of live birth form, as well as a checklist and the forms to have notarized. The checklist asks for information such as proof of residency in BC, receipts from baby and birth supplies, medical records of the pregnancy, and photocopies of your other children's birth certificates. They want to be sure you really had the baby in BC.

4. You will need two notarized letters from non-family members stating when they saw you before and after the birth, and that as far as they know, you had the baby when and where you say you did. If you live in or near Vancouver, Victoria or Kelowna you can have the letters notarized at the vital stats office.

5. You mail (or submit in person) the whole package and your payment and they mail you a BC.
