Battery acid for discharge?

I know I'm not the only one. I'm just curious about how common this is, and WHAT it is, and why it's happening this time (girl pregnancy?) but not the other two times I've been pregnant.

My preggo discharge seems to be eating holes in my underwear. At first I thought dh was just really thorough in removing spots from our laundry, and that maybe our stain-remover was damaging the fabric, but then I remember that dh is NEVER that serious about the laundry, much less stains and spots.

This is definitely a preggo thing, too, since most of my undies are new. There is no other reasonable explanation for holes in the same spot in almost every pair, every brand, every material (mostly cotton).

Has this happened to you? Was it with a girl pregnancy? What is going on body-wise or hormone-wise that has suddenly given my preggers self the ability to burn through fabric??

I had that problem with my second pregnancy (boy pregnancy) and to a lesser degree the last time (girl pregnancy.) I never did figure out why.

I've been way more acidic with my girls. My skin down there gets sore from the discharge but I've not noticed holes in my undies.

Just popping in to say YEP! Me too!

Though you already know since we were talking about this in our DDC lol

Yes, bleaching and eating holes in my undies! I'm relieved I'm not the only one.

Girl pregnancy, too. More panty damage last pregnancy than this one (also a girl).

really? wow! your poor girlie parts! my dog likes my undies and will eat holes in them, gross i know, but they are all in the same spot

That is wild!

Its not irritating to the girly parts at all... if it were I would worry it were another round of BV...

Its just an increased amount of discharge (to the point that I often worry my water may have broke and Im only 26 weeks along tuesday!) and the bleaching/holes in the undies from it.

I'm in! I figured it was just me.

I had this when pg with DD. Bleaching and then holes. Haven't had it with this one yet

Okay, I really feel like a freak because this has been happening to me since I hit puberty. Tons of discharge, holes - the whole nine.

So are we THAT acidic? Sheesh. Wish I had a ph strip...would love to know what kind acidity it takes to eat through two layers of cotton.

On the plus side... maybe that means Im actually doing well with my doctor and midwifes recommendations for turning my vaginal ph acidic to avoid another run-in with BV!

You know, I was reading this thread thinking "weird, glad it never happened to me!" but now I'm remembering...my black undies DID get a bleach spot on them!! I thought it WAS a bleach spot, but of course that makes no sense, if black undies got in my whites, the bleach spot wouldn't be so coincidentally in the same place in three different pairs. Duh!

How strange!

The hole in undies thing has never happened to me. But I have two boys and I'm due with a girl this time and nothing is getting rid of the garderella infection. It doesn't hurt or itch but the discharge is definitely "not right" and I've been running to the midwife about it forever it seems. Confirmed by her and OB that it's garderella. We've tried everything medicine wise and nutrition wise. Eating a ton of Greek yogurt a day and cut way back on sweets and dairy and sugar anyway since I barely passed my GD screening. etc. Since it's not a yeast infection it's just being stubborn I think.

I had a run of the mill yeast infection with my two boys that caused me no problems and cleared up never to return...but this time I've wondered about the girl thing and the pH being different. I've read that your vaginal pH can effect sperm and play a part in boy or girl babies...but I'm no geneticist so I don't know. It sure seems like I'm having more issues this time. We're trying an oral med this time. We (me and first baby) had thrush and I DO NOT want to go there again...that is pure misery.

Yuck. Me too. I always have a ton of discharge but getting pregnant is like turning a faucet on down there. Blah. Holes here too.

you mean that's not from rubbing too much? JUST KIDDING, LOL

I told my husband that I'm either gestating an alien life form or this is some pregnancy symptom that I just didn't notice the first time around.

Glad to know I'm not alone!

Now if I could go through one night without having to change my undies 2 times.

Hubby does the laundry and has never mentioned the alien-attacked undies... apparently he would still gladly risk catastrophic bleaching and holes with his most sensitive part... how brave he is!

trekkingirl, that cracked me up!
