Tonsil Help

DS's tonsils are in baaad shape. DH has agreed to let me explore homeopathic solutions for the problem, but is pushing hard to have them taken out. We haven't seen a doctor yet, as I know they will be cut-happy (natural options in the medical community are woefully unavailable here). "Wait and see" is really not an option, as they are so swollen we are worrying about them interfering with his breathing. So how can I treat this without a scalpel? I've done a little looking, and have a list of a few things to try, but I'm wondering if anyone who has BTDT can let me know what worked and what didn't. Or should I just stop being so sensitive about the surgery and just let him have them out?

Seriously? Has nobody dealt with tonsil issues in their child?

I think this just got missed, tonsils have been discussed a lot. Many people find good results by removing foods that kiddo is intolerant of. For most people it's dairy, we removed gluten and dairy at the same time and my gut says the gluten was more problematic than the dairy but they're both gone anyway. Took about 4 weeks for DD's tonsils to get smaller, I saw other improvements a lot faster, the tonsils were the slowest. Things like: better sleep at night, started napping again at 3.5yo, digestive improvements, she stopped wetting the bed.

I've recently tried grapefruit seed extract with my daughter. [If you're in central Alabama, I got it at Whole Foods in B'ham!]. An Asian healing book rec'd using it for a gargle or mouth rinse and lists strep as an illness healed by the GSE. DD recently had severe pharyngitis and high fever--used this as a gargle for a few days and she was great. The bottle says for use in kids over age five years. It can be taken internally, also, and is always diluted a ton! Hope he's on the way to recovery! [BTW if you're in central AL, I use a homeopath in Birmingham and could share her info if you're interested.]

I would go to whatever lengths I could go to first before opting for surgery. I would start with homeopathy (seeing a homeopath, not trying to do it myself) and elimination of allergens.

Is she having strep or tonsillitis issues? Or just enlarged tonsils?

Last I checked, even official protocol does not call for removal for enlarged tonsils without infection.

A while back I did some research on adenoids. Here are links to some of the info I found. We ended up taking DS to a craniopath, which initially was very effective but recently he has regressed.

http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/...095010123.html (4th post down was a helpful poster you can contact directly for more info)

http://abchomeopathy.com/forum2.php/203678/ (this is one post but it you search you can find more or join & post about your own situation)

I also contacted an accupuncturist & this is what he said: "Yes I do treat children with enlarged adenoids and other lymph glands. I use cold laser, magnets and sometimes some herbs and homeopathy - all based on what I find after examination."

This is what an herbalist told me "I am presently working with a girl of 7 years old, who has in-larged adenoids since she was a 2 year old. We are working on the inflammation and the immune system, draining her lymph and we are also treating her with flower essences and doing energy work.
The key with en-larged adenoids is that there's a chronic microbe and an allgeric/inflammation in her system that is due to foods that she is eating that cause a chronic inflammation."

Basically, you need to find a practitioner who has worked on this kind of thing before & knows how to identify & correct the imbalances in the body, whether they be related to food or infection or something else. I had luck posting in my "tribe" about my situation and people responded with names of practitioners who I then researched more.

Good luck. We still haven't found the ultimate answer so I may be trying a different practitioner besides the craniopath soon.

I would suggest finding a pediatric homeopath. Don't try and treat something this acute by yourself since your hubby is pushing for surgery and you need quick results.

fyi... a lot of homeopaths take consults over the phone
