Traveling late in pregnancy

I just looked into the closest hospitals to Shenandoah Nat'l Park , where we'll be heading (from Boston) this weekend for the wedding of some good friends of ours, and at that time I will be just at the 36 week point in my pregnancy (I know, it's a bit risky, but we wouldn't be going if they weren't such good friends!). I've been hearing good things about Martha Jefferson in Charlottesville. Does anyone have any experience at any of the area hospitals around there? I'm planning for a non-medicated, intervention-free (if safe) hypno-birth. AND, does anyone have thoughts about traveling that close to my due date? It's my first pregnancy, my mom was late with both my sister and me, and all looks to be perfectly normal and healthy at this point, so the chances of me going early are slim... But I'd rather not have this baby in VA, especially because, although my insurance will cover a lot of the cost, it will be a lot more expensive out-of-network than it will be here in MA at my chosen Birth Center...

Thanks for any and all advice or thoughts - but please, keep any horror stories of traveling and going into labor to yourselves - I'm practicing Hypnobabies and need to keep my mind on the positive!

I like to travel, pregnant or not. I think it would be silly to miss your friend's wedding. The worse that will happen is you'll be out a pocket some money if you have the babe in VA, but that doesn't seem like a major concern to you.

I like to keep my calender booked through week 42 so I'm not just waiting around . Have fun!
