cooking my first chicken

Today I have my first chicken in the crock pot. I have been vegetarian since moving out of the house so I am pretty clueless about this meat thing. FTR, we are changing our diet because one of my children has multiple food allergies and wasn't able to get enough fat and protein with a vegetarian diet. Anyway, I looked in the crock pot and there is a lot of juice in there. When this thing is done cooking should I pour off that liquid and freeze it for future use? Perhaps in a soup? Thanks

Hi from another former vegetarian. Yes, that liquid is highly nutritious, and you can freeze it and use it as a stock for a future soup, or use it as your liquid base to cook rice, or any of a number of other cooking uses.

you can freeze it in ice cube trays then transfer to a freezer bag or other container. that will help you get it out of the bag and you can use as much as you need chicken broth is great stuff!
