Help me piece this puzzle please. Digestive Enzymes?

Hi,

Background: My DD is 1 yr old. She was born 5 weeks early at 5# birth weight. She gained normal amount of weight every week until her 7th mo and was 15# at 7 months. She hit a major stall period then for 2 months and around 9 months suddenly hit a major growth spurt gaining 1# a month for the 9th and 10th month taking her weight close to 17.5#. Again her weight has been stalled the last 2 months. She has a major dairy allergy and we suspect other allergies.

She eats 1/2 an avocado, some oatmeal, 3 oz of rice formula (Ultra Care) and BM everyday. I think she eats decently and should be gaining. Why has she not been gaining for the last 2 months? It cannot be that she is allergic. If so then what was the 2 month major growth spurt gain of 2# around 9 months?

I think her problem is she is low on stomach acid and isn't digesting her food well. I cannot tell from her poo because the avocado doesn't show well.

So - what can I do to help her digest and absorb her food better? Please help me......on reading these boards I gathered smidgens about:
Zinc, Bubbie's sauerkraut juice, Molybdenum?, Magnesium?, Klaire's digestive enzymes?, Probiotics?, something I am not thinking of???

But I am all confused about the above.....help me sort my thoughts. What digestive enzymes can I supplement her with? If Klaire is the company I should stick with which of their enzymes should I use and can I supp my 1 yr old DD with that? What probiotics? I want to see results. I used Mindlinx Neonate and Bubbie's sauerkraut juice but I didn't see any results. Why isn't she gaining weight and what can I do?

Well, I don't know that her weight gain is a problem - babies don't gain weight evenly. If she was 5lbs at birth, that's 5th percentile or lower on the growth charts - and she's at the 5th percentile or so now. So she's right on the growth curve she was born on.

Are there any other symptoms that concern you besides uneven weight gain? Sleep, fussiness, wanting to nurse a lot...

No - but I am thinking I can help her gain weight more evenly and not be called "puny/tiny" by some of the people who meet her. I am thinking digestive enzymes are the answer.....only I don't know the first thing about them and was hoping you wise mamas can recommend some...??

If she's digesting food well, then digestive enzymes won't help - and I wouldn't recommend them for a child with no apparent issues. You'd likely see bits of oatmeal in her poop if she isn't digesting.

It sounds to me like she started tiny, and she's growing well . I'm sorry it bothers you if people call her tiny, but it sounds to me like you're doing a great job, and she's healthy.
