Baby acne & belly button question

So I have two unrelated questions. First it seems baby acne has gone on a rampage the last week or so. Today it's bad. The worst it's ever been. She also happens to be 1 month old today. Ds never had baby acne so this is new to me. I know that it will go away on it's own, but when? And I know I'm not supposed to do anything to treat it but anything I can so to help?

Also her umbilical cord fell off at 8 days old. But I have to clean crust off of it everyday. Is this normal? It doesn't look or smell infected. Any ideas? When will it stop?

My dd's baby acne got really bad this week too (3 weeks old). I know it probably doesn't bother her but I feel bad for her little skin all red and bumpy I just wash her normally with a damp cotton ball on her face.

belly button - same here. it's normal.

I would try breastmilk on the baby acne.
The crust is normal. I remember thinking it lasted longer than I thought it should.

due date crashing... My kiddo had baby acne really really bad. I was actually concerned it was a rash or something instead of just acne because she was totally covered on her face, chest, and back. her ped and the midwife both said not to worry and not to do anything. Midwife said to just wash her in water with MAYBE a teeny bit of soap if I actually thought she needed it and to use a natural oil like coconut or olive as moisturizer and again, only if she needed it just to make sure her skin isn't getting irritated or anything. I like the breast milk idea a PP mentioned.

It didn't go away til she was probably, oh, 3 months? It got lots better but it wasn't completely gone til she was probably about 3 months.

My DD is 4 weeks old and the acne just started on her face this week also. n Good thing I did her newborn pics before that, LOL!

Her umbilical cord fell off at a week old and crusted for another week or so.

haha I was thinking just that! I did however have her 1 month photos done yesterday but they were not close up shots and they were done at sears so I'm ok with that lol

I've tried the breastmilk on the acne and i almost think it worse so I have nit don't it again. It's weird though.... The acne will go away over night then it will show up in new places the next day.

This is the first child I got new advice for on the acne issue. My mw told me to wash it. I had a counter full of Burts Bees Baby bee bath stuff and the mw saw it during my labor. In her PP instructions she said to bathe the baby with the baby soap and if the acne returns to bathe her again. I kinda flipped as I have always been advised not to use soap, but just water etc as mentioned above. Maybe she's just a clear skinned baby or the daily baths are actually getting rid of the acne...either way she's pretty clear skinned for the most part. The little neck tends to get spots here and there-we call it her stinky spot lol.

Our cord fell off at 8 days too. Today is day 12 and we still have a big wet gummy circle in the middle that I have to tend to. We switched from powdered goldenseal/echinachia (?spelling?) to A and D ointment. The mw recommended switching to vasoline but I'm not a vasoline fan. The point was to switch to something creamy to soften it instead of continuing to try to dry it out. It's healed on the inside already so it's okay to soften the outside. It sure helped her stop fussing. I think it was really bugging her!

Hope that helps if you are looking to try something new.

ds has baby acne on his face too. and actually i think that he may have it on his tummy (around his belly button), but the doc thought it was a rash yesterday and gave us a rx for it (dh went to go fill it b/c he's already that protective). but i may try to bathe him with a little soap and some BM and see if that helps it rather than put on the ointment.

DDC crashing from June - both my kids had bad baby acne but the good news is it only lasted a week or so. Isn't it from some of your hormones leaving their system? It was right around 3-4 weeks for both kids. It really does go away
