and it's a recorded message and they say there's not a problem but you need to call them back, what the heck do they want? Because I'm not calling them back. If someone needs to talk to me, they can do it without a robocall.

Oh. Well forget that crap.

I did get a call one time and it turned out that they had detected fraud on our account.

When I get a message and they give a number, I don't use that and instead call the number on the card. Any contact from mine has been because of unauthorized charges.

They specifically said there wasn't a problem with the account though. I would think fraud would be a problem with the account.

I'm sorry, I missed that. I agree, they just want to waste your time.

Yeah I just never answer. Total waste of time.

did they say your specific credit card company or did they use the words "your credit card company"? If they didn't use the name it's a scam & don't call or talk to them. If they did use the name they may want to raise your credit limit or talk you into a different card, but in my experience they don't leave messages for you to call them they'll keep calling until they talk to you. If you are unsure, call the number on the back of your card & they'll let you know what's going on.

You know, come to think of it, I don't know that they did say the name of the card. We don't use any of them anyway and they're all paid off except the Lowes card. *shakes fist at Lowes* So I know we don't owe anything. If they want me, a real live person can call.

And thanks paintedfire. Dave Ramsey has given me a healthy skepticism of all things credit.

It could be that they are trying to get you to opt back into being able to charge over your limit and pay an over limit fee..the new law forbids over limit fees unless you agree to them...My dh had a zero balance CC call him and try to sell him on that...
