At the end of our diagnosis journey for now.

So, we had our last appointment with the dev. ped today to get the results of DS1's genetics testing. We were specifically looking to rule in/out Fragile X but also did a chromosome analysis.

Anyway, the tests all came back without any irregularities which is what we were hoping for. So, it looks like his diagnoses for now are: ADHD, SPD and anxiety. He also has allergies and asthma.

He doesn't fit the criteria for autism at the moment but he does display a lot of "autistic-like" behaviours. The dev ped said that it is possible that he may get an autism diagnosis later if he starts to have more trouble with the social aspect.

So that's the scoop. I'm glad to have that over with and now we can just focus on helping him to cope and to have the best life possible.

Thanks to everyone who's listened to me and given advice over the past few years!

It's good to feel like you've explored the possibilities and find the true answers. Is that how you feel? I'm gathering that and I hope so. It's good to get to a "moving forward" point.

We are in much the same boat!! My son has had countless evals and everyone has an opinion!! Most concur (with 1 exception) that he is not on the spectrum although he does have "autistic-like" tendencies. For now, his dx is SPD (severe, sensory seeking) and language disorder. He has been given some other dx but these 2 seem to fit the best and are what most evaluators concluded. He has an autism dx for school since SPD is not valid and he needs the autism label to get services. So be it....I don't care. The last doc I went to (a developmental pediatrician who dx SPD and language disorder) said "I think you can stop having him evaluated now". I think she's right!!
