Help for breech baby - Page 2

My experience is probably rare, but I thought I'd share anyways. At 41.5 weeks my big baby boy turned breech. I was told that he would never turn back at this point. The doctor scheduled me for a c-section the very next day. After I left that office, I called the hospital to tell them that I would not be coming in for a c-section and to please cancel my appointment.

After speaking with a bunch of people, we compromised that I would come in for a version (SP?). Them trying to turn the baby from the outside. That night I did a crash course at the spinning babies website. Spent hours that night in the half upside down position.

So I went to the hospital the next day. They were all ready to prepare me for my c-section. I reminded them that no...that wasn't going to happen. Eventually we got it figured out and I was put in a room to prepare for the version. They did an ultrasound to check his position again...and guess what? Baby had turned right back around.

Maybe my uterus is roomy, or maybe the spinning babies stuff worked. All I know is that I'm very small, didn't gain much in pregnancy and at 41.5 weeks my almost nine pound baby boy went from breech to head down all on his own. I had him all natural about a week later. I would have never consented to the c-sec. They could have either figured out how to deliver a breech baby in the hospital or I would have gone UC.

So take all the advice given here and keep thinking positive. You never know what can/will happen.

My second child was born breech, at home. We had a lovely birth, but it took a lot of prayer, thought and education (reading, talking) before my DH and I reached the decision to go ahead and try to give birth at home.
She had been breech the entire pregnancy. I tried EVERY natural way to "get her" to flip. Nothing worked. When I had a meeting with an OB (who agreed to deliver her vaginally at the hospital for me) along with my husband and midwife, we all had a feeling not to try a version. My thinking was that if I tried everything else, there was a reason this baby wasn't turning and to just leave it alone! Thankfully, we all listened to that voice, because she was born with a velamentous placenta and a very, very short cord.
It took a whole lot for me to find peace with our birth plan. Stress, talking with others, reading, watching videos, scouring the internet...blah blah blah. And more stress. Finally, one evening I was praying and I was reminded that no matter what we decided to do, no matter where or how this child came into the world, it was going to be ok! As long as we went into the birth educated, at peace and thoughfully, even if we had her in a hospital via c-section, it may not have been what WE wanted, but what was best for baby and the way that God intended her to come. From that evening on, I was at peace. And for us a homebirth was the way we decided to go. For many reasons-e.g. I have a proven pelvis, I'm healthy and had an easy pregnancy, and my midwife had delivered more than 35 breech babies at home.
I hope that helps in some way. Have peace and God bless you and your wee one!
