Anyone ever gotten turmeric stains out of clothes?

The little guy upturned a take-out box of (cold) curry on himself last week (he hadn't started reaching yet... apparently that was interesting enough to prompt him though). I stripped him down and tossed his shirt in the wash without even thinking about the fact that curry has turmeric in it. Suffice to say when I went to fold the laundry his shirt is covered in yellow blotches.

Should I just dye the entire shirt now, or is there hope?

Yikes! If you washed it in cold and didn't put it in the dryer, you might as well try again but you might never get it all out, it fixes to the fabric pretty quick, in my experience. If you use it, you might want to get out some oxyclean.

I get it out easily with oxiclean, but only if it hasn't been dried in the dryer yet, or washed in hot water. In my experience, once it's been subjected to heat, the stain is fixed. Although you shouldn't let that stop you from at least trying the oxiclean.

Yeah, it went through a regular wash/dry cycle, so it may very well be fixed. But I'll give the oxyclean a try. Good thing it wasn't my favorite shirt.

Oh well, if all else fails, I can just dye the rest of the shirt.

Most of DS's shirts have curry stain on them, as it is his favorite food.

Oxyclean soak, at least overnight, works in most cases.

I had a stain that would not go and an oxiclean type powder was finally the product that did the trick.

I tried to dye a shirt with turmeric and it looked great initially, but faded out considerably over time so that I couldn't really see it much any more. It was a sort of "natural" colored cotton t-shirt, so it's not like it went back to white 'cause it wasn't white to begin with, but it definitely didn't stay yellow even though I tried to set it.
