7th generation diapers worth the price?

Hi,

I CD my son at home but I use disposables when I'm out. I'm trying to decide if I would go with KirKland (Costco brand) or 7th generation diapers. Are 7th generation much healthier for the baby or are they pretty much same except that the 7th generations are not bleached. I know they have gel in them. Are their "non-toxic" polymer different from other brand's gel and truly non toxic? I'm trying to decide if it is worth the price....Thanks!

I used 7G diapers cuz I was afraid to take a chance with other brands. AFAIK, 7G is reputable about the contents of their products, so for me the brand was worth it. My DD never had a reaction from the diapers and aside from the newborn explosive poo stage, I didn't have leak issues. I shopped around and found that with sales you can get the diapers for much much less, I have found them for 40-50% off. So I would stock up during those times. You can also print coupons off online. I wasn't able to CD because of our living situation so YMMV.

I don't know the answers to your exact questions, but I can say that the 7thGen ones are my favorite sposies. I've never ever ever had a leak with those. It's one of those YMMV things, because different diapers fit different babies differently, but they fit her really well.

I think the gel is the same stuff no matter what. It's always nontoxic (although the study I saw supporting that - referenced on the 7th gen website - involved feeding it to earthworms not mammals). And I read somewhere that the 'mainstream' diapers don't use chlorine bleach anymore either FWIW??

Anyways, that said, the 7th Gen ones are the only sposies we've found that don't give DD a rash. We use them for air travel and also sometimes if she gets rashy we'll put her in a sposie so we can slop on the non-CD-safe rash cream (the CD-safe cream is totally useless IME).

I'm not a fan they have given both my DD rashes now and they fit my LO funny. Plus I really dislike that they dye there diapers to get there signiture brown color.
I use Earthsbest when I use sposies.

There are healthier diapers out there w/o the gels, I think... diapers that can be composted, etc. Unfortunately for us, 7G are the only ones that don't give my son a rash, so that's what he's worn at night and when we're out.

I get the in bulk from Amazon and that has saved us a ton of cash. For example, it's $39.99 for 120 Stage 4 diapers.

You mean like the Gdiapers flushables or the Nature Babycare? Those also have the SAP gel in them.

I can't imagine what you could put in a paper diaper other than a superabsorbent gel and still have it work.
