Pattern sizes vs RTW sizes

I'm wondering if anyone has the equivilent sizes for the ready to wear children's clothes?

It seems that a size 1 fits like a 2T on my daughter. Does that sound about right? They seem to fit the next size (2=3T, 5=6).

Does anyone know where there is a chart online that lists the size equivilents? Its hard to sew for someone when you can't measure them but you know their RTW size. I'd like to get as close as I can.

thanks for any help you can give me,

Lisa

I don't have a chart, but I have always noticed that RTW sizes run at least a size smaller. For example, I wear a size 8-10 RTW. To make myself clothes, I have to cut a 12-14 pattern. DD can still easily wear a 12-18 month pattern, however RTW clothes she is a 2. The exception I have found is wahm made patterns. FWIW, they seem to be pretty true to RTW sizes.

I thought it was just me sewing a funky small seam allowance. Thanks for letting me know I am not the only one.
