I was going to say the same thing! We had DS in our small flat in a high rise building and no one said a thing. I am a pretty loud birther but it totally does sound like sexy sounds so I think people were just impressed by our stamina if they heard anything at all.

Good to read this thread! I live in a house with 3 suites, so I have been concerned about it as well. I don't think I'll do the birth pool, but I think I will do the noisy homebirth I laboured at home for 10 hours with DD before going to the hospital, and no one noticed. I'll probably warn our landlady upstairs a head of time, but maybe not until labour starts or something, depending on the time of day. Our neighbours have definitely heard us making the babies, so hearing me birth one shouldn't be a big deal

A number of my neighbors here know, but we're friendly with them. i didn't tell any of the neighbors, or my landlord, last time just because we never spoke. I won't make it a point to tell my current landlord, but if it comes up while we're chatting, I won't not tell him either.

My last birth was a homebirth in a little 800 sqft apartment. I can't think of anything that was a problem or that needed special planning. I loved that we pretty much had unlimited hot water there.

I actually lived right above the manager and the apt office and never worried about it (though I got to know them well enough and didn't think I had much to worry about). I never told them I was hbing but when they found out after the fact they thought it was too cool to tell people a baby had been born at their apartments.

It wasn't an apartment, but it was an attached condo that I had my 2 homebirths in. We told our neighbors on one side of us the first time, I don't think we told anyone the second time. No one knew or said anything. I actually asked my one neighbors after the first birth if they heard and they said no, but that they saw the midwife pull up and knew something was going on.
