can't take the heat...

DD1 hates getting hot and/or sweaty. Hates it! So, summer has always been a little difficult for us, but as she is older she is more vocal about it and gets upset if we stay outdoors longer than she wants to. DD2 loves outdoors and will stay as long as we will let her.
I kind of understand DD1's preferences. I used to get sick as a child and actually throw up if I was out in the heat/sun for too long without shade. But, I would find shade when possible, or stay in the hills to be out of the sun, but still outside. The problem comes when I have to do the gardening. We homestead, and have 3 gardens that are primarily my responsibility. One is in full sun the majority of the day. She cries if we have to go down there and stay more than 15 minutes. Then, she cries about walking home. It is hot down there, but there are shady places for her to sit. She isn't very physical either... doesn't like to exert herself too often... sometimes. She likes to look at books, draw, color, play with her toy animals, and watch a movie a day.
So, I'm wondering how to gently encourage her to be more active in this kind of weather. I don't want us to spend the summer indoors. I don't think it is good for her either, but I want to be mindful of any intolerances she might have... as I know firsthand how miserable that is. She does have eczema that is environmental (not allergy) related, so really sensitive skin too. Any experience or suggestions?

I'd try things that will cool her off on the move- like one of those neck thingies you freeze and then wear.
Cold water to sip or a spray bottle set on "mist" to spritz herself with?
An umbrella (parasol) she can carry and keep the sun off of herself. I plan to buy some big floppy hats as we just moved to Texas and the sun is bright. Maybe a hat would help her a bit?

That's all I've got. but it's a good exercise as it will likely be over 100 here soon.

I don't have any advice, just wondered if your ped has checked her physically for things like her thyroid, blood sugars, etc just to make sure that's not part of the problem. I totally sympathize as I hate the heat but I don't remember it bothering me that much as a child. I hope you find something that helps! I like the cold water and spray bottle ideas.
