Well, I'm not even pregnant but I got all curious about UC and decided to look into why people do it. I'm intrigued now. My first was born at the hospital after laboring mostly at home, and my second at home with a midwife.
If we have a third... I don't know if we'll actually do an UC, but I'm going to study up about it, because the more I read, the more interested I become. My parents actually had ME unassisted because they didn't like their doctor. I did like my midwife, but looking back, there are things that I wonder about - whether they were really so necessary. Plus it does feel kind of weird that people I'm not even close friends with (as much as I liked them) were present at such a personal event (for both births.)
Anyway, I'm very curious why those of you on this forum chose to UC or are choosing to UC? What basic things should I know about UC?
