Funny smelling poo?

My 8 week olds poop has suddenly changed the way it smells. He's exclusively breastfed and has 6 to 7 bms a day that are a dark yellow color. I noticed a couple of days ago that they smell much stronger and it's a funny fermented sour sweet smell(dh thinks it smells like old vomit, I think its like fermented juice or sour milk). Is this normal?

I'd like to know as well. I had always read the EBF poo didn't have a strong odor. Lately my 4mo old's diapers don't smell all that sweet... *shrug*

It depends on what you've been eating. I made chickpea curry and ate the leftovers for a couple of days, and suddenly my tiny baby had curry scented poop!

That would make sense that the smell could change depending on what you eat. I have not eaten anything different lately though so I'm not sure if that would be the cause of this strong smell.

This happened often to my son (he is now 6 months old)--and each time I came on here asking--or I asked my son's doc. The idea was always that it was either:

a. Something that I ate that changed the color/smell/consistancy
b. His intestines doing some "growing" and changing....which changed the color/smell/consistancy
c. An increased amount of swallowed saliva that caused the color/smell....etc.

My son is EBF-- and it still happens that he has strange poops where I can't figure out the cause!!

Hope this might help.....
